"Stretch the Ride" started as a vision of the late William Smaltz "Stretch", a previous patient of the Pottstown Cancer Center. He felt as though small acts of support for patients, their caregivers and their families could help raise the spirits of those facing the cancer journey. These acts of support range from spa days or dinner-and-a-movie nights to celebrate a day of feeling "well" or larger needs like utility payments to off set decreased work abilities. We have been able to provide reimbursement for transportation to and from treatments and have adopted families during the holidays to help bring a little cheer. The spectrum of gifting is broad, as Stretch intended, because the emotional and financial strain of the cancer diagnosis is not easily defined. We have been able to help over 240 families since our inception and could not continue this mission without the amazing support of our local communities. For more information check out their website.
The Board of Directors of the David Buttaro Cancer Foundation presented the members of "Stretch the Ride" with a check for $5000 from the proceeds of their prior Beef & Beer Event. It was great day for all!
