In their tenth year now, Baseball For Life was Started in 2009.   They host a slow pitch softball tournament each year which teams  pay to compete.   All of the proceeds go to aid cancer patients or their families with short term DIRE needs.   Often they pay for a client's co-pays, or their medications if their insurance does not cover it, or they are uninsured.  At times, they have helped with paying for home heating oil or electric bills in the winter months. They cap those issues at a maximum of $300 per person , one time only.   With small amounts, they are able to immediately provide help by simply dropping off a check to the pharmacy, etc.  All recipients are referred  by the social worker at PMMC. The idea was initiated by Bonnie and Jim Goodhart, and Don and Kathy Seeley who had experienced the battle themselves, as patients and caretakers.  Dave Buttaro liked the idea of helping people locally, and was adamant about it, and made the decision to contribute to the fund each year.  This year, the tournament will be held on September 15th at the softball fields in Limerick.  Interested teams may contact Jim Goodhart at 610-327-4844.

The Board of Directors of the David Buttaro Cancer Foundation presented Jim & Bonnie Goodhart of Baseball 4 Life a check for $5000 from the proceeds of their previous Beef & Beer Event.  It was a great day for both causes!
